April Hartman, MD, FAAP has been appointed to the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC). Dr. Hartman’s expertise and commitment to public service will well complement the mission of MACPAC. The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Reauthorization Act of 2009 established MACPAC to review Medicaid and CHIP access and payment policies and to advise Congress on issues affecting Medicaid and CHIP. The Act directs the Comptroller General to appoint MACPAC’s members.
Dr. Hartman is a board-certified general pediatrician with over 25 years of clinical experience in both rural and urban settings. She serves as Professor and Division Chief of General Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and currently chairs the Medicaid Task Force for the Chapter. In addition Dr. Hartman serves as President of the Board of Directors for Child Enrichment, Inc.; and is the Medical Liaison for Resilient Communities of East Georgia. Dr. Hartman earned her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Congratulations Dr. Hartman!
