Welcome

October 2024

The toll that Hurricane Helene took on our state has left many of our members and their families, their practices, their hospitals in a state of temporary shock. We all know by now that cities from Valdosta to Sandersville to Dublin and Augusta and beyond all suffered severe flooding and wind damage, along with power and  water loss.

The Chapter’s foundation will soon begin a fund drive for Hurricane Relief in which donations to the foundation will be earmarked to support our members who were severely impacted by the storm.  Please keep them in your prayers and stay tuned for an appeal from the foundation.

Our fall CME meeting, Pediatrics on the Parkway will be held October 24-26, at the Cobb Galleria Centre, in Atlanta. Judson Miller, MD, Emory University School of Medicine is this year’s program chair. Pre-conference seminars on Coding & Practice Management, Pediatric Nutrition, Developmental Pediatrics, and Hospital Medicine are on tap for Thursday; with the general sessions all-day Friday and half-day on Saturday. A special Georgia welcome to our national faculty: Richard Lander, MD, Florham Park, NJ (coding); Robert Voigt, MD, New Orleans (developmental pediatrics); Scott James, MD, Birmingham (infectious disease); and Lucien Gonzalez, MD, Chapel Hill, NC, (Substance abuse) And of course, they’ll be joined by a host of our own Georgia experts covering topics of current interest to pediatricians and pediatric clinicians.

By now, you have heard that we have postponed our Gala marking the 70th anniversary of the Georgia Chapter, which would have been Saturday evening. The new date is March 8, at the same time and same place–the Renaissance Waverly Hotel, which adjoins the Cobb Galleria Centre. You may register for the meeting by clicking here.
