Welcome
November 2024
It was wonderful to see so many of our members, friends, and guests at our fall CME meeting, Pediatrics on the Parkway last week. A special thanks Judson Miller, MD, Emory University School of Medicine, for serving as this year’s program chair. He and his committee did a great job in presenting timely topics on many facets of pediatric care. Thanks also to the pre-conference seminar chairs: Coding & Practice Management, (Drs. Ben Spitalnick, Ross MacLeod, and Jamie Rollins); Pediatric Nutrition, (Dr. Tatanya Hofmekler);Developmental Pediatrics, (Drs. Marshalyn Yeargin & Amy Talboy) and Hospital Medicine (Dr. Joanne Kennedy).
By now, you have heard that we have postponed our Gala marking the 70th anniversary of the Georgia Chapter, which was originally scheduled for October 26, as part of the Fall Meeting. The new date is Saturday evening, March 8, at the same time and same place–the Renaissance Waverly Hotel, which adjoins the Cobb Galleria Centre. You may register for the meeting by clicking here.
We made the decision to postpone based on the toll that Hurricane Helene took on our state and so many of our members and their families, their practices, their hospitals in southern and eastern Georgia. The Chapter foundation-the Pediatric Foundation of Georgia—has opened a separate fund in the foundation for “Hurricane Relief” in which donations to the foundation will be earmarked to support our members who were severely impacted by the storm.
Finally, a big congratulations to the Chapter Award recipients for 2024. These were presented at the Annual Awards Luncheon at the Fall Meeting, Oct. 25. They are: Ross MacLeod, MD, Denmark Lifetime Achievement; Jeff White, MD, Outstanding Achievement; Flavia Ross, MD, Young Physician of the Year; Resilient Georgia, Friend of Children; Rep. Darlene Taylor, Thomasville, Legislator of the Year; and Jose Rodriguez, MD, Dept. of Public Health award. Congratulations all !! What a special group.
